In Alaska, if you get convicted of major traffic offense and your license get suspended, you will be required to get an SR22 form.

Alaska Driver manual states that if you are convicted of reckless driving, your license will be revoked. You can get the information from the court listed  how long your license will be revoked. You may also contact the AK Division of Motor Vehicles for more information.

If your drivers license gets suspended in the state of Alaska, you will need to provide proof of financial responsibility certificate in the form of SR22 form. This type of insurance will be filed by your car insurance provider to inform the Division of Motor Vehicles that you have the required liability insurance. Your insurance company will also inform the DMV if your your SR22 has been canceled, terminated or lapsed.

Typically, an SR22 is part of the reinstatement process to have your drivers license restored.

Generally, you will need to keep an SR22 form active for a period of three years.

Reckless driving is a serious violation in Alaska and that means your auto insurance rates may increase once your insurer sees the violation in your record. If your rates went up, you may shop around for free insurance quote to make sure you are getting a less expensive car insurance quote.
