Good Question Richard.
A certificate of insurance policy that shows a proof of your insurance in the future in the state of Texas is called an sr-22. It is a liability car insurance that is being certified by the insurance company to the Department of Public Safety. The insurance providers are also responsible for notifying the Texas Department of Public Safety if the policy has been cancelled or terminated.
Once the notification from the insurance company has been received by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) that the policy has been cancelled or terminated before the required period, the vehicle registration will be suspended.
A form that is being filed by the insurance company to cancel the sr-22 is called the sr-26. If you think your daughter no longer needs the sr-22, you may contact DPS for confirmation. Once it has been confirmed that she no longer needs to carry this, she may contact the insurance company to have the sr-22 removed. Some insurance companies may require some documentations from the DPS to show proof that the sr-22 can be removed already.
If the removal of the sr-22 has been requested to the insurance company, the insurance providers will submit notification to the DPS that the sr-22 has been canceled or terminated in the form of sr-26. If the sr-22 is still required at the time that the sr-26 has been received, your driving privilege may be suspended. So, it is best to contact the DPS to make sure first that your daughter no longer required to carry the sr-22 to avoid revocation of license. The DPS will be able to give you more information on how to remove the sr-22.
Goodluck!
