Cheap SR22 Insurance For Old Car
Reader question:
My car is really old and isn’t worth much. Since there’s pretty much no way to get cheap SR22 insurance, can I just leave it uninsured?
Aaron
Great question, Aaron.
You never have the option of leaving your vehicle uninsured, even if it’s old and you have difficulty finding cheap SR22 insurance coverage. While in some states you can file a waiver with your department of motor vehicles in order to be exempt from having insurance coverage on your vehicle, this only applies if the car is broken down or for some other reason it is impossible to drive it. Unless you are military personnel deployed out of country, your car has to have cheap SR22 insurance coverage, even if you aren’t driving it.
One way to get cheap SR22 insurance is by only covering your vehicle with the minimum liability required in your state. If you do this, then your cheap SR22 insurance premium will be about half as much as it would be if you had gotten full coverage with collision and comprehensive.
Cheap SR22 insuranc may be elusive, but it is anything but impossible. Anybody can get cheap SR22 insurance so long as they are willing to try.
The first thing that you want to do is get quotes from different cheap SR22 insurance companies. Sometimes the biggest mistake a cheap SR22 insurance policy holder can make is sticking with the same insurance company after a major change in their life has taken place. While at times that company you have been with forever may have the best rates, it is very likely that you will find a better deal on cheap SR22 insurance elsewhere. Most Americans do not shop around for a new cheap SR22 insurance provider once they are required to file the SR22 form, and as a result they often end up paying too much. The differences between cheap SR22 insurance quotes between companies for the same person can be as much as a thousand dollars in some areas. You can’t afford not to save that.
